~Jungle Survival~
How important is to have survival skills? Every survival skill you have is important ! There are many survival "techniques" that may safe your life or other people lives. First aid, how to build a shelter, how to light a fire, to find water, food etc. There also some more general categories such as "Jungle Survival Skills".
First of all, before you go on this risky expedition, you have to pack some useful clothes. Here are some suggestions about what to pack and what to wear during the day:
1) Comfortable, loose, fitting clothes are the best for this expedition. Not fashionable, not sparkly or too modern!
2) At dawn and dusk it will be better to cover your head and your neck with a mosquito net or any other piece of clothing.
3) In the great outdoors, your head an your neck are protected by the undergrowth. However, pack a sunscreem with a high SPF to be sure.
4) Dry your clothes before night so as to avoid chills and fever.
5) Wash your clothe every day, especially the socks. Dirty socks can cause skin diseases.

.... And what about fire?
In the jungle, having the ability to light a fire is a very importan skill. You can cook, you can be kept warm at nights and you can escape mosquitoes and the curious animals. You don't need to have a big fire. A small one is more safe. The bigger the fire, the more attention is paid. Don't burn the bamboos. They burn too fast and the smoke is too dangerous.
... OK with all of these things!! You can live without food, but you can't without water!
According to the scientists, in the tropic regions, there is a plenty of food and water. You can easily find water in rivers, streams, lakes or puddles. However, this water isn't good to drink unless it has been purified. The better way is to boil it 10 to 15 minutes. You can also find some coconut milk from the coconuts. It's very tasty and more safe than the real water you find in the jungles.
... Yes, but if you want to eat something and you don't have any food with you?
If you run out of food, DON'T eat whatever it "appears" in front of you. Instead of that, you can watch the monkeys. Everything that monkeys eat can be eaten by the humans.
After all the advice I gave you, It's time to watch a video, understand them more and learn some new!
I hope you enjoyed this article!!!

My favourite scene!!
About a week ago, our summer English class saw an animated movie before we take some time off. I know that most of the people know that comedy. It's called Despicable Me 2! It came out the previous summer so that's the second time I'm watching it. It's a mix of comedy and romance movie and it was pretty hilarious. Everyone laughed with it! Personally, I was the best idea for a vacation!
One of my favourite was when Gru and the 2 minions that followed him arrived at the AVL (Anti-Villain League) basement. Everything was going well until the leader of that organisation introduced himself. His last name Ramsbottom! So the minions undestood what it meant and they said to each other:"Bottom" and then both of them started laughing. Also, the way they laugh is much funnier! And that's the reason I like this scene the most!
This is the video!:
Despicable me 2
We had a great time watching the hilarious film Despicable me 2 in Markaki School. It made me laugh a lot and it can be watched by all ages. It is a mix of comedy and romance.
After the film, I did an amazing quiz to see if I knew a lot about the movie. My score was 29/30 and I think that this is a really good score.
This film has a lot of funny parts and it is difficult to choose only one. I think a good one is when Gru wanted to phone Lucy and ask her to go on a date but he couldn't, so and he ended up burning the phone. Then the "firefighter" minions came in through the wall (not from the door). They couldn't even extinguish the fire and the room was a mess. Another good scene was when Margo was with her boyfriend Antonio and Gru was trying to seperate them.
In the film threre were also very useful phrases such as:
- This evening I am going to the cinema with Mary.Care to join me?
- Hold tight. This is gonna be an exciting ride.
- Oh my goodness! What happened back there? Are you OK?
and MORE!
I think Despicable Me 2 is a film that everybody should see!
Despicable Me 2
A day before having a week of vacation that we all throughly enjoyed. We saw a hilarious movie called 'Despicable Me 2'.This movie personally made me laugh a lot and I had a lot of fun watching it.This film was a beautiful mix of comedy and romance.
I did a quiz of 'Despicable Me 2' to test how good I knew this movie. My score was 27/30 which I think is a pretty good score.27/30 means that I knew how to answer right almost all the questions that were given to me by this particular test.
My favourite scene of this movie was when Gru and Lucy broke into El Matcho's house. This was my favourite moment of the movie because when they go in the building a chicken attacks them. This chicken was really fast and strong so they couldn't easily catch it.It mostly attacked Gru and Gru always reacted really funny by saying a lot of different funny words and comments and at the same time Lucy is laughing with him and then trying to catch the chicken too. At last Lucy catches it when they hear El Matcho coming in the building and they let it alone and run to hide.

~Wilderness Survival Stories~
Recently, we have been discussing about survival stories with my classmates. I found a WebSite mentioned in our book and I thought it would be good if I "explored" it. The site is called Wilderness Survival Stories. In this site, you can read different types of survival stories (practice, unexpected, unprepared survival stories etc). You can also share your story by contacting with the editros of the site and sending them your story by e-mail. Moreover, you can read some information about the site and find some other useful sites by reading the resources. Although these there are many thing to see in this site, the most surprising thing ever, is that a Camping Survival is introduced to you. You can buy your camping equipment from a site, which specialises in camping!
Here is a survival history I really liked! I hope you enjoy reading it:
"Wolf Tracks! I'm being hunted"
"On this day I'm going out on my trap line to see what I got. It was a nice day around 20 below, I had my shotgun a few shells, and was dressed light. Walking in I saw no game and checked all the traps, I had nothing. I left all the sets alone and on my journey out of about 7 miles, I felt something. It's looking at me, but didn't bother me. I keep going, once again something is looking at me, I feel it and its unusual. I never feel this kind of quiver up my neck. I look around and waited for it to show itself, usually that happens. Nothing. I keep going. What was that? I saw something! I gave it a minuet, nothing. I saw something again, and leaped over a log, where is it? Nothing. I cut a track on my tracks in, it was wolf tracks! I'm being hunted. Let me tell you, it's one thing to hunt, but its all another story to be the hunted. Well, I had one shell in my gun, and had one in my pocket. So I put it in my mouth to warm it up so it won't misfire. Let the game begin. I'm, going to win, I hope. I look ahead behind and wish I had more eyes. Ahead is small ceders 6' high. I felt it now, and it's getting stronger. Wolf on on my right, wolf on my left, 20 yards out. As I pass this tree, I bet. Then I saw one wolf mouth wide open and coming at me, 4' away. I was ready for this, I shot, and won. I saw no sign of the others after I shot. Big wolf. I picked it up and wrapped it around me and carried it out. The thing felt as big as me. I won that hunting trip ... "
If I had been is his side, I would have died! I'm so scared of wolves and generally the wild animals! However, I really like the story! Don't forget to visit the site and read more wilderness survival stories and send your own survival story!!!

~Despicable me 2~
The day before yesterday, the "summer"
groups of the Markaki Language School saw an awesome film, known to all of us
as: "Despicable me 2". Personally, I really liked this
film and I think that it can be watched by all the ages. Chlidren, tennagers,
adults... It's a mix of adventure, comedy and a bit of romance. All those
things connect with each other and make an exciting, fascinating, thrilling
movie.
In order to see how well I had
known "Despicable me 2" I made an online qiuz.My score was 28/30! This means that I have a good
memory and I know the movie well. How about doing this quiz? I'm sure you'll
like it.
My favourite scene in this movie was actually the last scene. Gru's and Lucy's wedding, when a group of minions was singing the song "I swear" by All 4 one, transformed in a minion version, which I really liked. The minions were singing in a beautiful landscape full of green and covered by colourul flowers. They were dressed up with white suits, glasses and a big, white beret on their heads.
In this scene, minios are also singing a very popular song. However, I don't know its title. It was really funny! Finally I really liked the minion who was still purple, and appears suddenly in the end of the movie saying: "Bahhh"!!!
Here's my favourite scene in a video:
In this movie, I also learned some new useful phrases!! There are a few sentences including them:
- Hold the horses mum, I'll be there in 5 minutes. Unfortunately I've missed the bus!
- Put your helmet and hold tight! This will be an unforgettable spin!
- Oh! Godness! You're so beautiful! This drees had been made for you!
- Hey Jenny! Toinight I am going to the cinema with Tom and Hazel. Would you care to join us?
- No way, I won't climb in this enormous tree. Are you out of your gourd?
~One of the best moments of "Despicable Me 2"~
Despicable Me is one of the best animation films, I've ever seen!It is so hilarious that you can't help laughing.Minions make the movie very funny but the other heroes are perfect, too!
One of my favourite moments of the film is when Gru goes to say goodnight to his girls and discovers that Margo is texting with a child called Avery. Then he asks Margo if "Avery" is a boy's name or a girls'name. After that, Agnes tells him that she knows what makes him being a man-his bald hair! Here is the dialogue which I found it on http ://www.imdb.com/title/tt1690953/quotes.In my opinion this moment is one of the funniest moments of the film and makes me feel very happy thanks to its humour!

Gru: Good night, Edith.
[gives her a good night kiss and gently pulls the beanie over Edith's eyes]
Gru: Good night, Margo.
[gives her a goodnight kiss, but returns in suspicion]
Gru: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, hold the horses. Who are you texting?
Margo: No one. Just my friend Avery.
Gru: Avery...
[confused]
Gru: Avery? Is that a girl's name or a boy's name?
Margo: Does it matter?
Gru: No. No, it doesn't matter, unless it's a boy!
Agnes: I know what makes you a boy.
Gru: [concerned] Uhh... Oooh... you... do?
Agnes: Your bald head.
Gru: [relieved] Oh... yes.
Agnes: It's really smooth. Sometimes I stare it, and imagine a little chick popping out.
[imitating a chick]
Agnes: Peep-peep-peep.
Gru: Good night, Agnes.
[kisses her forehead]
Gru: Never get older.
In my view, Despicable Me 2 is an awesome film and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone!

London Trip
My educational trip to London was an experience that I will never, ever forget. I had an extremely great time there. As I believe, the best way to learn a foreign language is to visit the country where it is spoken. I learnt a lot of new things there that I will never forget.
We stayed in a hotel which was not really nice and far away from the city of London, but the staff was very helpful. We visited lots of museums, like the Natural History Museum, the British Museum, Madame Tussauds and others. We went on a cruise on the Thames River and we visited Harrods. We went to Covent Garden, Liecester Square and Piccadily Circus. We watched the changing of the guard at the Buckingham Palace, we walked past Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. Also, we visited the Royal Observatory of Greenwich and we attended the service at St. Paul's Cathedral.
Finally, I think that our trip was really impressive. I recommend that everyone should go to London and I would do it again!
This is my video with photographs from London.

~Flick books~
A week ago in our English lesson, we met a page where we mentioned flick books. A flick book is a book with a series of pictures that vary gradually from one page to the next, so that when the pages are turned rapidly, the pictures appear to animate by simulating motion or some other change. Flick books are often illustrated books for children, but they can appeal to adults, as well. Flick books are not always separate books, but may appear as an added feature in ordinary books or magazines, often in the page corners. Software packages and websites are also available that convert digital video files into custon flick books.
Here's a flick book video!! It's amazing!!!
~A celebrity I admire~
I love helping people in need and the reason for that is my aunt Aspasia Manolaki, known as the "generous soul". She has done a lot of things to help people in need and she is still doing. She feeds the the hungry helps the poor and gives money to those who need them. She has also made three orphanages for the children who have o parents or relatives to bring them up.She is famous for all the things she has done to help people in need. As you can guess, she has had a big influence on my life.
As for her appearance, my aunt is tall and slim. SHe has straight, shoulder-length, dark hair and fair skin. Her eyes are brown and shiny. Unlessyou notice her carefully, you can't see that she has a scar on her red cheek. She often has her hair a ponytail and she leaves her fringe "flying" on her big forehead. Her lips are big and pink. She is very pretty.
My aunt is brave and clever. She is energetic and loyal too. She can hug and help everyone. She is polite and she's never moody or mean. She is very modest. She never talk to others about what she has done or how much she loves helping people. She has also generosity in her soul.
Thank's to my aunt's generosity I learned how beautiful it is to be brave and help your fellow people. She taught me not to judge people, because she says that if you judge people, you have no time to love them. She taught me to be brave and complete my intentions. Because of her, I was taught the huge meaning of the words: "help", "love", "share". Now, when I don't want something I give it to an orphanage. I buy food and give it to the poor people in my school. I love helping people in need and being generous and that's something my aunt taught me. I want to be like my aunt. It's one of my intentions. I look up to her for all these things and I hope everyone was like her.

Charles Dickens's Biography
CHARLES DICKENS:
Charles Dickens is one of Britain's greatest writers. His novels have been popular around the world for more than 150 years. Through his writing he fought for better conditions for children and the poor, but most of all he is remembered today for his wonderful stories and his unforgettable characters. Charles John Huffam Dickens was born in 1812 near Portsmouth on the south coast of England and died on 9 June, 1870.
PERSONAL OPINION:
While reading the biography of such a great author, I gained a lot of valuable information about his personal life. I discovered many parts of him that I never knew. Apart from that, this biography helped me understand the conditions in London that century and the needs of the poor and the needs of the tender aged individuals who worked under pathetic circumstances. Now, not only am I absolutely ready to read all of his masterpieces, but I am also capable of understanding them better. This book has given me useful knowledge for college, too. I can't wait to study other biographies of other great classical British novelists.
